A Thriving Artistic Community
Since its inception in 1976, the Thunder Bay Potters’ Guild has been a consistently active group within the community. With the Guild’s commitment to education and promoting the craft, the Guild has, through its work, encouraged and instilled a knowledge base not only to hundreds of members but the community at large.

Empty Bowls, Caring Hearts
One of the premier events for the Guild is its Spring Fair where members not only sell their wares but demonstrate their skills to the public and encourage people to try pottery firsthand using some of the available pottery tools and equipment. These types of events may be why Thunder Bay has an extremely knowledgeable consumer base who understands the quality of pottery produced here in Thunder Bay. The annual Christmas Sale is another major event each year where people from all over the region come to pick up the perfect Christmas gift – and a little something for themselves! (Click here for upcoming sales and events.)
The Thunder Bay Potters’ Guild hosts a number of workshops for potters every year, inviting potters from all over the world to share their knowledge and skills over a weekend. These workshops often have a lecture or public talk where all are invited to attend. These are also listed in our Events section.
Members of the Guild volunteer their time and donate their work to over 100 community events, organizations, and agencies every year. The members of the Guild take enormous pride in their biggest fundraiser of the year – the Empty Bowls dinner in support of Shelter House and the Thunder Bay Food Bank. All proceeds from the sale of bowls created and donated by member potters are sold as part of the dinner package.
The Thunder Bay Potters’ Guild is open to anyone who wants to join. View our members’ works in the Guild Gallery or find out about Upcoming Events. You can also Contact Us for more information!
